August is National Hair Loss Awareness Month. It’s important to understand that this issue affects over 80 million men and women across the country. Despite the fact that hair loss is a common condition, there are many myths and misconceptions about it, and there are few specialists helping those who suffer from hair loss. 
Keith’s Haircenter is one of the most well known and successful hair restoration centers in Wisconsin for both men and women. “National Hair Loss Awareness Month is a campaign designed to raise awareness about hair loss and the treatments available,” says Keith Zimmerman, owner of Keith’s Haircenter. Hair Loss comes in many different forms and is caused by many different things. Keith’s Haircenter is well educated on these causes which include Trichotillomania, Alopecia, burns, accidents and hair loss due to Chemotherapy.
There are many different approaches to hair loss. This is why finding a specialist in the field is extremely important. Between topical treatments, laser therapy and hair restoration the options can become overwhelming. With Hair Loss Awareness Month Keith’s Haircenter is trying to increase understanding and provide information and support for those who suffer from hair loss. “Hair loss may not be a life threatening issue but we understand that it causes emotional distress and can have a detrimental effect on men and women socially and professionally” Zimmerman says.

| Keith’s is Striving to Help Cancer Patients with Looking Their Best - Wednesday, April 14, 2010
In the past couple days the Keith’s Haircenter staff has been busy.
On April 12th seven of our employees were trained with the Look Good…Feel Better program that the American Cancer Society puts on at area hospitals for people suffering from cancer. This program is really special. Each participant receives a b ag of make-up and other goodies worth up to $300. All of the products in this back have been donated by different cosmetic lines and distributors. During these sessions patients learn different make-up tricks to help them feel beautiful. The cosmetologist also helps the attendee’s with their questions about their hair loss. They give them tips on finding a good cranial prosthesis and how to take care of their wigs once they have them. We are excited to become a bigger part of this program. Our stylists are excited to be helping people and volunteering to give back to our community.
On April 13th Lisa and Kelly were invited to speak at the Northeast Wisconsin Oncology Nurse Society’s monthly meeting about what we offer for patients going through chemotherapy and radiation. The nurses were excited to hear about us trying to help patients with their insurance claim for a cranial prosthesis. The night went really well and we look forward helping patients with their hair loss.
